Why Is Substance Abuse On The Rise?

So many people are turning to drugs, alcohol, and other harmful addictions today, because they are looking for something to satisfy them and give them peace. The only One who can give them what they are looking for is Jesus Christ.

Sadly though most of these people do not want to turn to Christ, because so many churches and Christians have disobeyed God’s Word and misrepresented Christ to them.

I live in a place where there are churches on every corner, but I travel about 40 miles 4 times a week to go to church, because there is not a better church  within 40 miles  that stands on the truth of God’s Word, and loves people as God loves us. My church is not perfect but they do not gossip about people or look down on poor people, and they try to love people and help people overcome their problems.

Some other churches today are friendly enough, but they do not preach the truth. They don’t preach on Hell, God’s coming  judgement on the world, or on God’s chastisement on Christians.

In addition, some other churches do preach the truth, but then they are very Pharisaical. They think they are better than everyone else, and they have no compassion on the lost or on people struggling with sin or other problems. Not all problems are sin, some people are just lonely and need someone to care about them. I have lead people to Christ and taken them to different churches to get help with their problems, and I have watched in horror as the “Christians” in those churches, ostracized them, put them down, and gossiped about them. And we wonder why people turn to other things like drugs and alcohol to try to find peace! Some churches are so bad they even look down on people if they don’t wear nice enough clothes or drive a nice enough car!

In addition, you do not have to have overcome an addiction yourself in order to help someone else overcome theirs. I have never done drugs, or drank alcohol, or had any other harmful addictions, but I can still care about people, listen to people, and help them find peace through God’s Word, and so can you.

While many Christians sit in their churches being all self righteousness, there is a hurting world out there going to Hell! People’s lives are being ruined by addictions, because most Christians don’t want to get their hands dirty, and get involved, and help them!

The suicide rate in this Country continues to go up, because most Christians don’t want to be inconvenienced to care about other people, not even each other.

The Bible says in 1 Thessalonians 5:14 “Now we exhort you, brethren, warn them that are unruly, comfort the feebleminded, support the weak, be patient toward all men.”

If you notice God commands us to “comfort the feebleminded,” not tell them to be tough and get over it. Not everyone is that strong, more and more people are taking their own lives, because they are not strong enough to just get over their problems. And self righteous  Christians sit there and murmur against them, because they did not trust God enough with their problems!

The church is supposed to be their to listen, care, and compassionately and patiently teach people how to gain strength from Jesus Christ and the Bible, so that they can then let go of their problems and leave them in God’s hands. People do not learn that by being told to get over it. This kind of healing takes a lot of time, patience, and prayer.

If more Christians would simply obey 1 Thessalonians 5:14, revival would break out, addictions would cease, and our Country could be saved!

This Country is on the brink of destruction, not because of the liberals, but because of churches and Christians who are either too busy to care about other people or who are too afraid to preach the truth. And until that changes we will not have revival, and America will cease to exist!

Please share this with everyone you can.

Thank you.
