John 3:16 “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”
This verse is often called “The Gospel in a Nutshell,” because it is a small verse of only 25 words but contains so much truth.
This verse shows that God is love, and that His love for us is at the highest level because it is a sacrificial love. God sacrificed His only begotten Son Jesus to save us from our sins and hell.
This verse shows God’s mercy and grace towards us, because we do not deserve everlasting life, but He made a way for us to receive it anyway through Jesus Christ.
This verse shows that God wants everyone to be saved, and that everyone can be saved. It says “whosoever.”
In closing, this verse shows that once a person is saved that cannot lose their salvation, because they have everlasting life. Everlasting life does not end. This does not mean that a person can say a prayer and then live a life of sin. If a person does this, then they did not truly get saved. A person who truly gets saved and believes on Jesus will strive to obey Him. They will have a heart of submission towards God not a heart of rebellion. This does not mean that a true Christian will not sin, but that he or she will not live a sinful lifestyle.
