What Are Rights and From Whom Do They Come

Rights are personal liberties that each human being has simply because they are a human being created in the image of God.

Therefore, rights come from God not from government. It is the job of governments to protect these rights. However, many times governments have infringed upon, denied, and violated these rights. When a government does this, they trespass into God’s jurisdiction. And eventually God destroys that government.

These rights include:

life (Genesis 9:5-6)

Religious freedom (God gives man a free choice to follow Him or not and how they follow Him, and so must the government Matthew 19:16-23, Revelation 22:17, and Philippians 2:12)

Liberty (The freedom to do that which is right Galatians 5:13-14, 1 Peter 2:16, and James 1:25)

Pursuit of happiness (Ecclesiastes 2:24)

Private property (Matthew 23:14)

In addition since all rights come from God and not government, then all rights must also be in agreement with God’s Word.

If the government gives someone permission to do something that contradicts God’s Word, then the government does not create a new right. They just simply violate God’s Word and give the person legal permission. Such as with abortion, homosexual marriages, euthanasia, etc.

Abortion, homosexual marriages, and euthanasia all directly contradict God’s Word. Therefore, nobody has the right to do these things, they only have legal permission. God’s judgment will fall on the people who commit these acts as well as on the governments that allow them to be committed.

Please share this with everyone you can.

Thank you.
